News Chopper Catches People Playing Mario Kart On Massive Stadium Screens

If I happened to work at a stadium with massive screens, I can pretty much guarantee I’d be spending most of my time daydreaming about what it’d be like to play video games on those bad boys.

As a result, I really can’t blame the staff at Kauffman Stadium – home of baseball team Kansas City Royals – for indulging in a spot of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in style, using the stadium screen for a super-sized experience.

Our intrepid racers were soon discovered by a news helicopter from KCTV5, who caught them in action while filming some aerial shots of the nearby Arrowhead Stadium.

As it turns out, this extra af game of Mario Kart was actually part of a charity fundraiser for the Royals – and not some sort of clandestine kart racing cabal, with a flair for drama as I’d previously suspected.

The organisation confirmed on Twitter it’ll be auctioning off the chance to play video games on the big screen later this year, which sounds like heaven. In addition to Mario Kart, I’d love to see what Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Red Dead Redemption 2 would look like on such a beast.

Business Wire reports the screen was actually the world’s largest LED display when it was installed way back in 2007. Fittingly dubbed CrownVision, the monster monitor is an enviable 84 feet wide and 105 feet tall.

This story has really left me with a jealous itch, as well as the depressing realisation an 84 foot wide screen probably won’t fit in the living room. Not without my wife noticing, anyway.
